FAST Parent Meeting Recap

Thank you to everyone who attended the FAST Parent Meeting last
Wednesday evening.  We had a great turnout with over 40 parents
attending.  We discussed two main points.

1) Our volunteer policy has changed effective March 1st, 2007.  The
fundamental change is that we no longer accept timing at "away" meets as
FAST volunteer hours.  That's not to say that you should stop timing at
away meets.  But the volunteer hours won't count towards your FAST
volunteer hours goal of 10 hours per six month period.  As an
alternative, we are establishing a "role based" volunteer program that
will allow many of our families to get hours for holding needed
volunteer roles on the team.  The roles that earn volunteer hours are
published on the bulletin board at the pool.  Please sign up for a
"open" role.  We are also going to "test pilot" a program where the
Board will make requests for specific items.  We will allow for the
donation of those specific items to offset volunteer hours.

2) We have established "office hours" for Head Coach Ron Forrest and
myself.  Coach Ron's office hours are Thursdays from 7:10pm-7:50pm,
divided into two 20 minute timeslots.  If you need to talk with Coach
Ron about swimming advice, what you can do to be a better swimmer parent
for your child, nutrition recommendations, how to keep your child
motivated, general swim team questions or concerns, etc., then please
sign up to meet with Ron by putting your name in one of the timeslots on
the bulletin board at the pool.  I will also make myself available on
Wednesdays from 6:30pm-7:30pm in case you have any team administration
questions.
