Parents, the good news is that our upcoming FAST A/BB meet is proving very
popular with the teams of North Texas. We have received many more entries
than we have at our previous year's meets this time of year. FAST takes a
great amount of pride in serving the swimmers with a good environment to
swim well and have a good experience overall.

Part of that good overall experience is in having a smoothly-run meet for
not only the swimmers but their families as well. The meet should start
promptly at the designated time; there should be no delays while we call for
stopwatch timers to volunteer; the timers should do a diligent job so we can
quickly determine the official times and get awards prepared during the
meet. We will need to do everything we can to run the meet "tightly" to
prevent marathon sessions.

There is a direct correlation between running a good meet and having it
superbly staffed with volunteers.

We ask that ALL of our parents sign up to help whether your child is
swimming in our meet or not. Masters, we can also use your help as you are
uniquely qualified to help with many volunteer assignments. There are two
sessions on each day and as our volunteers work towards the end of a
session, they can tire and mistakes can be made. After each session we will
also need some help cleaning the facility, particularly on Sunday evening.
Throughout most of the meet, we will need 16 timers without interrupt as it
is FAST's ultimate responsibility to provide them.

There are some signup sheets on the bulletin board at the pool. While
walk-in help is appreciated, we can make much better use of your time if we
know when each position will be staffed so we can plan ahead or "draft"
others.

For those of you have already signed up, your generous donation of your time
is greatly appreciated. We could not run this meet without you!
