Hello all FAST members.
We hope that you have enjoyed your fall break and hopefully you have been
able to get time to watch just an amazing Olympics and the historic swimming
being done by Michael Phelps, not to mention some other amazing races taking
place.
We want to make sure that everyone knows a few notes for practices
starting back up for next week:
1) We are starting back to practice on FALL/WINTER HOURS. That means that
ALL practices will start 30 minutes later than workout times over the summer
(for example, if your group started at 6:00p.m. over the summer, it will
start at 6:30 now). Parents please make sure to note this change,
especially with regard to pick up times.
2) The practices on Monday, Thursday and Friday this week will take place
at Wilkerson as normally scheduled.
PLEASE NOTE: Tuesday and Wednesday practices for ALL groups will be
held at our FOREST PARK facility. Workout times will stay the same. This
is due to previously scheduled FWISD large scale events being held during
these evenings.
A map to Forest Park can be found on the FAST website
(www.fastswimming.org).
3) FAST would like to welcome a new coach aboard. The Marlins group this
fall will be coached by former FAST standout swimmer (and daughter of Coach
Janet), Georgia Steenberge. Georgia has recently graduated from Notre Dame
where she was a distance and butterflier for the Fighting Irish. Welcome
home Georgia! Parents please feel free to introduce yourself to Georgia.
We know she will do a great job with the Marlins.
Two other parent notes of importance:
1) Parents, we really need to have everyone understand that there are NO
FAST swimmers allowed inside Wilkerson until 4:45p.m. PERIOD. You may not
drop off swimmers before this time. This is an arrangement we have agreed
to with the FWISD due to overlap with the high school teams training up
until this point. Please respect this request so that we do not run into
problems with our landlord. Swimmers who can drive, please do not enter the
building until this time also.
2) NO swimmers may be dropped off unsupervised longer than 20 minutes
before their practice time. FAST is not a babysitting service and neither
FAST , it's coaching staff or anyone in the FWISD is liable or responsible
for monitoring swimmers whose parents leave them unattended outside the
acceptable arrival times. Supervision outside the 20 minute pre-practice
window is the PARENTS sole responsibility. Conversely, swimmers are
expected to be picked up promptly upon conclusion of practices. Swimmers
are not to be left unattended for extended periods of time after the
specific swimmers workout has finished.
