To FAST swimmers and parents who have scheduled workouts on Saturday morning.
As it becomes more apparent that Hurricane Ike is going to landfall in Texas and with the projected path coming onshore and then proceeding into the North Texas area over the weekend, we will be monitoring the storm and making a decision regarding the status of Saturday morning workout on Friday evening.

While we don't expect full hurricane conditions here in North Texas, Ike could cause some severe weather from the outer bands reaching us that morning with heavy rains, thunderstorms and flooding due to the rain. If the weather is very inclement or if there are heavy thunderstorms, we don't want our families to have to go out in that and have to drive in conditions which could potentially be hazardous.
Also, please remember that if there are heavy thunderstorms, we do have to clear the pool, which could result in us just sitting around and not swimming that morning if storms are overhead.

So, at present, we are planning on having a normally scheduled Saturday morning, however based on Ike's path and speed, we will evaluate the situation Friday evening and make a decision. We will try to make this decision before the end of practice Friday night so we can let as many swimmers know in person as possible. It would also be a good idea to check the FAST website (www.fastswimming.org) for an update and we will send out an email around 9:00p.m. Friday night letting everyone know the final status of Saturday practice.

Hope you all stay dry this weekend (unless you are in the pool).
  Thanks.
  Head Coach Ron
